It has been my desire for as long as I have wanted to be a family physician to serve those in need. I thoroughly enjoy working at this practice. I feel the physicians and staff of Hampton Family Practice work together to create the perfect environment for me to diagnose and treat those who are sick and to teach patients about preventing disease. I welcome patients of all ages, including newborns and infants, children, adolescents and teens, and adults. I especially enjoy women’s health and offer an array of preventative services including contraceptive device placement.
I graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and continued at Marshall University for my Medical degree. I also completed the VCU Riverside Family Medicine Residency Program. I am currently accepting new patients.
I enjoy reading, running, Pilates, crafts, home projects, and church activities. My husband, Cory, our four children, and I live in Newport News.
Jennifer Chandler, a Board Certified Physician Assistant, joined Hampton Family Practice. Jennifer loves being able to provide long term, comprehensive care to her patients, and is especially focused on preventative medicine. She also enjoys getting to know her patients, and seeing them excel as they pursue an improved quality of life.
Jennifer moved to the Hampton Roads area late 2016 with her husband and their beagle mix named Willow. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband and friends, as well as reading, exercising, and video games.
Heather Mayer joins Hampton Family Practice as a Physician Assistant. Heather earned her Bachelor of Health Science from Ferrum College and her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from Stoney Brook University. Heather’s special interest include pediatric and adolescent medicine, women’s health, sports medicine, dermatologic and minor surgical procedures. Her favorite part of the job is the continuity of care and the opportunity to face challenges with patients as well as celebrate wellness.
Heather grew up in the Hampton Roads area. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her friends, family, dog, paddle boarding, kayaking, cooking and baking.

I joined the practice in 1996. I enjoy the wide spectrum of family medicine including newborn care and pediatrics, adult medicine and wellness, and dermatology procedures and vasectomies. I am also involved in conducting clinical research.
After earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Belmont Abbey College, I attended Eastern Virginia Medical School for my Medical degree. I also completed my Family Practice Residency at Ft. Belvoir VA. I am Board Certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
I was raised in a military family and have lived many places but call Tidewater home. My wife, Judi, and I have three sons, Sean, Quinlan, and Aidan. I enjoy running, reading, travel, and church activities.
I joined Hampton Family Practice in August, 2014 when I returned to the area with my wife and children. I was born in Hong Kong, but grew up in Hampton Roads Virginia. I moved to Baltimore to study biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins. I stayed in the Baltimore-DC metropolitan area to work as a biomedical scientist before returning to medical school training at the University of Maryland in 2007. After marrying my wife, Katherine, we took a few years to explore the mountain region in western North Carolina, where I did my Family Medicine residency at Mountain Area Health Education Center – Asheville.
My spectrum of clinical interests stretch from newborn pediatrics to managing adult and geriatric chronic diseases, preventative care, as well as providing a range of office procedures, including but not limited to contraceptive device placement, skin procedures/biopsies, and joint injections. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and staying connected to local church community and volunteer services. My favorite hobbies include running, fishing, and making simple healthy dishes for friends and family.
I joined Hampton Family Practice in 2010. I enjoy family medicine because it covers all aspects of one’s life and the challenges that can come with each phase. My clinical interests include women’s health, pediatrics and geriatrics.
I graduated from Lock Haven University with a Bachelor of Health Science degree and a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies. I am also Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
My husband, Jonathan, and I are parents to our two small children, Keller and Makai, and currently call Williamsburg our home.

In 2004 I joined Hampton Family Practice and enjoy offering the full scope of family medicine to my patients. I have a special interest in pediatric care and disease prevention.
I attended Norfolk State University for my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology before earning my Medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. I went on to complete the VCU Riverside Family Medicine Residency. I am Board Certified and have been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance Diabetes Recognition Program for delivering high-quality care for diabetic patients.
My wife, Tracey, and I enjoy the rewards of parenting our two children. I also enjoy fishing, table tennis, martial arts and films.
I joined Hampton Family Practice in 1994. As a certified Family Nurse Practitioner, I enjoy offering the full scope of family medicine to my patients. My clinical interests include health promotion and prevention of disease, metabolic syndrome, and women’s health.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia and have a Master’s Degree in Nursing from The Medical College of Virginia. I am also Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.
My husband, Marshall, and I have two children, Justin and Brandon. I enjoy playing golf, gardening, cooking, and travel.
I have recently joined Hampton Family Practice as a provider in Family Medicine. I am a graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine. I did my Family Practice Residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, TX. I joined the Air Force where I was stationed at Langley AFB from 200-2004 and then entered private practice in Hampton Roads where I have been providing Family Medicine services ever since.
Within the field of Family Care Medicine, I have special interest in the areas of chronic disease management and women’s health. I have special training in using IUDs and Nexplanon contraception devices.
I love being able to develop personal relationships with my patients and their families. I enjoy watching patients achieve their personal health goals and providing assistance along the way.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, John, and my three teenage children. I am active in my church and love to volunteer whenever I can. I also enjoy yoga, bicycling, cooking and being at the beach.

I joined Hampton Family Practice in 2011. I view the practice of family medicine as more than a career; it is a calling. I strive to build relationships with people and incorporate education into visits with patients. My clinical interests are broad, but I particularly enjoy preventative care, pediatrics, and women’s health.
After graduating with honors from the University of Illinois at Urbana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, I attended St. Louis University School of Medicine for my Medical degree. I went on to complete the VCU Riverside Family Medicine Residency Program. I am also Board Certified by the American Board of Family Physicians.
Originally from Illinois, I have been living in Hampton Roads since 2002. My family includes my husband and our two daughters, Reagan and Sarah. I spend my free time gardening, volunteering at school and church, and reading. Medical missions is important to me, and I was blessed with the opportunity to serve in Africa in 2011. I hope to have more opportunities like this in the future, both locally and abroad.
I was pleased to join Hampton Family Practice in June, 2014.
As a physician assistant, I work closely with Dr. Jennifer McCord and Dr. Amy Campbell to provide additional appointment availabiity and ensure continuity of care to our patients.
I completed my Bachelor of Science degree at Virginia Tech and my Bachelor of Physician Assistant Studies at The Jefferson College of Health Sciences. I am certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
I take a special interest in nutrition and cooking. I also enjoy woodworking and Crossfit. I enjoy spending time with my wife, Nicki and our children, Norah and Baron. I also enjoy volunteering in our church community.

In 1977, I opened Hampton Family Practice and I am proud of our long history of offering compassionate medical care to the families of the Hampton community. I enjoy offering the full scope of family medicine for my patients, many of whom have been coming to this practice since its beginnings. My clinical interests include: preventive medicine, office dermatological surgeries, gynecology, psychiatry and behavioral health, and geriatrics.
I attended Virginia Polytechnic University, where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology before graduating from The Medical College of Virginia, Richmond with my medical degree. I went on to complete a Family Medicine Residency at VCU Riverside. I am Board Certified by the American Board of Family Physicians.
I am a native of the peninsula and my wife, Barbara, and I have three sons: Mike, Steven, and Kevin. I enjoy reading, exercising and sports, and I plan to take fly fishing lessons.
I graduated from Virginia Tech University, Blacksburg with my undergraduate degree before attending The Medical College of Virginia, Richmond for my Medical degree. I went on to complete a Family Practice Residency at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News. I am also Board Certified by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
A native of Portsmouth, Virginia, I joined Hampton Family Practice in 1978. My scope of practice includes the wide range of family medicine. My clinical interests include treating diabetes and hypertension and explaining about the human body to my patients.
I graduated from Hampden-Sydney College with my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry degree, attended The Medical College of Virginia, Richmond for my Medical degree and completed the Chesterfield Family Medicine Residency Program. I am also Board Certified by the American Board of Family Physicians.
My wife, Susan, and I have two sons. I enjoy science, politics, and knowing how things work.
